English as a Second Language

Program Availability: Chamblee, GA, Gainesville, GA, Hillcroft, TX, ICT has 7 Locations, , Morrow, GA, Newport, KY, North Houston, TX, Pasadena, TX

The ICT/ILS English as a Second Language Program is one of the most comprehensive, most complete programs available anywhere in the United States.

It is believed to be one of the country’s largest (if not the largest) in terms of number of students served – and diversity – with students from more than one hundred twenty nations/countries. ICT/ILS has been teaching ESL since 1994.

Consisting solely of English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction, this program is designed for those students who require English language development to use already existing vocational knowledge, training, or skills.

This instructional program focuses upon development of listening, reading, writing, speaking (conversation), and grammar at all levels of the curriculum. Courses are designed in such a manner that skills are developed sequentially, with the English elements identified and taught in order of difficulty to include those necessary for English language success in the beginning, low intermediate, and high intermediate levels.  Included within the program's interactive guided methodology are a combination of lecture/laboratory, class discussion, and group activities designed to provide English language skills as well as cultural transference.

Upon completion of this course, the graduate is well equipped to assimilate into the United States culture, or play a useful bi-lingual role in any setting.

Program Summary

The English as a Second Language Program consists of twelve 120-hour sessions. Classes and outside activities require 24 hours of study per week.

Classes begin on all levels every five weeks and are offered both morning and evening.

English teachers, who have extensive experience in teaching English, particularly to non-native speakers, teach all classes.

Individualized help sessions are available. Enrollees enjoy personal email accounts, use of the Media Center for computerized English programs, and résumé-writing assistance.

Graduates of the ESL Program may be awarded a scholarship for each semester in which they continue their studies in one of our occupational programs.

Important Facts about the ESL Program at ICT/ILS

Apply to ICT

I made the decision to attend ICT for several reasons: Location, flexible class hours, low student-to-teacher ratio, and the ability to work at my own pace.  The challenges I faced at ICT helped to prepare me for the real world; providing me with leadership, teamwork and time management skills that I use daily in my position as an Employment and Training Analyst with Dekalb County.

If your goal is to attend a school that cares about their students and wants them to be prepared, then you should attend ICT.
